On August 8, 2018 the group "Resist Marxism" organized the "Providence Freedom Rally and March" on the Rhode Island State House steps. Counter protests centered on shutting down the permitted event and their speech all together. In the end, Rhode Island police allowed the counter protestors violently assault and destroy the permitted events equipment and shut down their speech.
